Online Thermal Sensational Vote Survey

CAPEL has conducted an online thermal sensational vote survey using Google Forms to 100 SIT students. This survey aims to gather information on the ratings of thermal sensation for each student on two different occasions (rainy day and sunny day). Based on the results tabulated, 69.7% of the students rated the classroom temperature as “Too cold” and “Cold” during rainy days where the outside temperature is lower than usual (Figure 1a).

Whereas on a sunny day where the outside temperature is around 31°C, 44.2% of the students rated the classroom temperature as “Warm” and “Too warm” (Figure 1b).

In addition, all the students that took the survey believe that the classroom temperature will affect their work performance. This calls for a reason to modulate the classroom temperature to ensure that students feel thermally comfortable. (Figure 1c)
